Anti-discrimination

The Department of Mathematics/Computer Science is committed to the University of Cologne's mission statement, "Diversity and equal opportunities". It sees itself as a non-discriminatory, safe and non-violent place to study, teach and work, where everyone treats each other fairly, with appreciation and respect. We want to promote a culture of looking at and naming discriminatory, abusive or violent behavior. We want to provide those affected with the greatest possible safety and comprehensive protection.

Contact persons

Various contact persons are available at the Department of Mathematics/Computer Science to support those affected.

Liaison lecturers

The liaison lecturers are the first point of contact. They offer confidential advice and a safe space to discuss stressful situations.

They will support you if:

  • You have experienced discrimination, abusive or borderline behavior,
  • you are looking for guidance on how to deal with a stressful situation,
  • you would like to discuss your options for action.

Counseling is confidential, voluntary and non-binding.

Ombudspersons

The ombudspersons are the people to contact if a formal clarification or complaint is required.

They can be contacted if:

  • Discrimination, abuse of power or other conflicts need to be formally addressed,
  • structured clarification or mediation is required,
  • an official complaints procedure is to be followed.

The ombudspersons are institutionally integrated and support formal clarification and complaints processes.
