Doctorate

The focus of doctoral studies at the Department of Mathematics/Computer Science is independent scientific work in a current research area represented by the chairs of the Department of Mathematics or Computer Science. As a rule, doctoral studies are carried out within the framework of the Graduate School of Mathematics/Computer Science (GraMatIK). A typical doctoral program lasts approximately three years. In addition to supervision by a direct supervisor, all doctoral students choose at least another mentor from among the members of GraMatIK who are authorized to supervise doctoral students. In addition to the research project, seminars, conferences and workshops offer the opportunity for further professional development and networking with other researchers.
