Actuarial Training

You can find information about actuarial training on the DAV website.

If you wish to begin the training program offered by the German Actuarial Association (DAV), you must demonstrate a solid foundation in mathematics and probability theory. Alternatively, you can take the DAV’s corresponding entrance exams.

This page provides an overview of all requirements and options.

Requirements for DAV certification

Mathematical skills

You meet the mathematical requirements if you:

  • Cover the learning objectives of the DAV
  • Have earned at least 90 ECTS credits in Mathematics

A Master's degree in Mathematics or Industrial Mathematics automatically fulfills this requirement.

Knowledge of stochastics

For the area of Stochastics, you have two options:

Option 1: Through Courses

  • Introduction to Stochastics
  • Probability Theory I

Option 2: Through ECTS Credits

  • At least 30 ECTS credits in Stochastics

Actuarial Mathematics Module

At the Department of Mathematics, you can also complete the “Actuarial Science” module to specifically prepare for the DAV training program.

Module content

For recognition, you must successfully complete the following three lectures:

  • Insurance Mathematics (Introduction)
  • Life and Pension Insurance Mathematics
  • Health Insurance Mathematics (Personenversicherungsmathematik 2)
